The Committee members consist of Michael Prestia – Minto Marketplace, Fiona McKinnon Community Engagement- Officer Sarah Redfern High School, Robert MacFarlane –Crime Prevention Officer Macquarie Fields Police, Councilor Darcy Lound and Jennifer Russell – Community Development Facilitator One Minto.
The area of Minto is seeing continual growth and positive change, bringing about a "New Rejuvenated Minto" that has a lot more to offer the community and adjoining Areas.
The suburb of Minto, now has a new Sub Regional Shopping Centre in "Minto Marketplace" servicing a local trade area of 30,000 people.
New housing developments within the Minto area include the release of 1200 plus new dwellings which will attract more young families into the area. There are also new recreational parks, a new football oval and a Community Centre with many new community activities taking place.
Our Public Schools are growing in student numbers and continue to provide excellence in education, making way for our future young leaders.
The "Minto on the Go" Committee meet each month and work together to grow and carry out current initiatives, whilst introducing new initiatives, to promote the "positive aspects" of the area via the available mediums.
The introduction of "Community Spirit Awards" and "Individual Achiever Awards" will reward and honor the worthy recipients, whilst instilling "well deserved pride" within the community. The recipients of these awards will be chosen monthly with an overall annual "Citizen of the Year" to be honored with a special trophy.
Nomination forms for these awards are available from the Centre Management Office and from the Minto Marketplace Website.
Local Newspapers and local radio have embraced the "Minto on the Go" initiative and welcome "Good News" stories about Minto and its citizens which will be promoted to the wider community.
As members of this growing community, we are compelled to work together at ground level, to reinforce the area's wonderful achievements and "Raise the Flag up High" for the ongoing recognition of "Minto Moving Forward".
