Wellbeing
At Sarah Redfern High School, we understand that student wellbeing is the foundation for learning and personal growth. Our approach is responsive and evolving — shaped by the changing needs of our students, families, and community. We take a proactive stance, working to identify and address challenges early, so every young person feels supported, connected, and ready to thrive both at school and beyond.
How we support student wellbeing
Supporting each student’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing is part of everyday school life.
We do this through:
- evidence-based practices such as the Berry Street Education Model, which supports self-regulation, engagement, and resilience
- a strong focus on attendance support and re-engagement strategies, ensuring every student is present, participating, and progressing
- collaboration with community organisations to provide free in-school wellbeing and enrichment programs tailored to student needs
- culturally inclusive initiatives that celebrate and reflect the diversity of our school community
- access to school counsellors, psychologists, and specialist staff who provide individualised support and guidance
- staff who build strong relationships with students and families, ensuring every learner feels known, valued, and cared for
- clear expectations that promote respectful relationships and positive behaviour across the school
- open communication between students, staff, and families to identify and respond to wellbeing needs early
